Have you ever dreamed of walking around a place with gorgeous period furniture and stunning architecture? Well, aside from jut walking around London anyway! The Geffrye Museum is pretty much just that. It’s a museum dedicated to the history of the home, and how it’s changed over the last 400 years. Sounds unusual, doesn’t it? Well, it is unusual, but it’s also totally fascinating!
There are eleven main rooms, each decorated and furnished from a specific period. 17th Century, Georgian, Victorian, Modern… you name it. London has architecture and style from so many different time periods, it was really fascinating to see so many of them side by side. The building is complemented by some lovely gardens as well, if the museum isn’t enough. I was lucky to catch a partly sunny day, which meant the gardens were looking very lush and blooming!
It’s a small museum, certainly, but that only aids in its charm. There were plenty of people walking up and down the hall admiring the vintage furniture. Still, if its not 100% your thing, at least there’s a nice place for a picnic on a sunny day!
