Feeling Festive: Christmas in London

Ghenet Actually || Christmas in London

Christmas is on Monday and I am SO EXCITED! I love this time of year, and I have to admit that the build up has been a lot of fun! We had a quiet weekend away in the Cotswolds (and even got snow!) and our Christmas and Boxing Day will be low key affairs too. That being said, I’ve been filling my days with lots of fun and festive bits. Christmas in London is a really magical time; there’s just so much to do! Remember, I did a little post about getting into the holiday spirit? Well, here’s a look at one of the rather festive days I spent in London!

A Little Luxury at Liberty’s

When it comes to swinging by Christmas shops, my two favorites are Liberty’s and Fortnum and Mason. There’s something so luxurious about them both and their Christmas decorations are ALWAYS amazing! It gave me the idea this year that Mr. Actually and I should start a new tradition and buy a new ornament for every Christmas we celebrate together. It’s a little late this year, but next year, we’ll buy some retroactively to represent the last 3 years!

I was so incredibly tempted by these beautiful wreaths, and I saw a number of really cute ornaments that I would decorate my dream tree with. So magical!

Fondue for Two at Somerset House

If there is one thing you’ve got to do when it comes to Christmas in London, a visit to Somerset House is it! I visit several times over the Christmas season (and sometimes even go ice skating!) because it’s just so fun! When Carrie suggested we pop over for a little fondue treat, well… I wasn’t going to argue was I?

It was so warm and cozy as we sat down, next to a very festive Christmas tree, to indulge in our melted gooey cheese and bits of bread to dip into it. It’s certainly the kind of thing I’d go for if I’d just spend the day out skiing or after a brisk walk through the countryside! It was pretty tasty, and to be hanging out at one of the iconic scenes of Christmas in London was such fun!

Hot Chocolate at The Winter Forest

It doesn’t often snow in London, so it’s a real treat to be able to sit down in a little snow-dusted clearing! Right behind Liverpool Street station, The Winter Forest was a very pleasant surprise, and oh so cozy!

I’ve been using that word a lot, but I feel like that’s just what I seem to be going for this Christmas. Cozy and content! Anyway, we popped over to The Winter Forest, and helped ourselves to some hot chocolate. It would have been so nice to stay and sit there for hours, chatting about all manner of things while we sipped on hot chocolate or mulled wine. Still, the little bit of time we spent was lots of fun!

There is so much to do in London, especially at Christmas time, and this was just one day of it! Still, I think there’s a pretty healthy mix of doing something festive, and having a little down time. On that note, I’m going to go put my pajamas on, go watch Love Actually for the 15th time this month, and hunker down for some cozy Christmas time with Mr. Actually!

What are your plans this Christmas?
