My bullet journal is seeing a lot of action lately! I feel like I’ve barely put it down! I’m using it for all sorts of things at the moment, and I thought I’d take the opportunity to share some of that with you! For those of you who are new to bullet journaling, I also have a post about setting up your journal. Sometimes it can be a bit confusing to get your head around, but seeing it in action certainly helps me! So, I’m sharing how I use my bullet journal!

The really great thing about a bullet journal is that you can tailor it to your needs! There are no rules, which sometimes can be intimidating, but once you work out how you want to use it, the world is your oyster. So, without further ado, here are a few little tips about how I use my bullet journal!

As a Diary

Way back when I was still living in NYC, I worked like five part-time jobs so a regular diary worked really well! These days I’m a one job kind of gal, but my free time varies so much that I still like keeping a diary of sorts. Honestly, that’s the main way I use my bullet journal. Each month, I map out what I’m doing; I even color code it! My work schedule stays the same from week to week, but the bits around those shifts are constantly changing! Social events, doctor’s appointments, gyms classes, working days, it’s all about keeping track of my life!

Keeping Track of My Budget

One of my goals this year is about paying off my credit card debt. I’m well on my way, which is really exciting, but I’m also trying to be better with my money in general. So I’ve started using a monthly budget tracker so I can keep an eye on where I’m spending all my pennies! I sometimes forget about things I spend money on, so keeping track means that there are no major surprises, which is definitely a good thing! I’ve had months where I spend all my money in what feels like 2 weeks and I can’t think how, which is never a great position to be in, so adding this element to my bullet journal has been a real lifesaver!

Planning Trips

Mr. Actually and I are planning a trip to Sardinia in June, so I’ve been keeping a list of points of interest! It’s a great way to keep track of things, without overplanning and going a little crazy. Plus, we’ve got ages until we go, so this way, I can add to the list, and when it comes time to booking excursions, I don’t have to go searching! We like knowing our options without having every single day planned to a tee, so this is a great way to for me to use my bullet journal without overdoing it! I keep the list, and then when we are ready, we can go through it! I also have a few lists of places I’d love to go, but haven’t quite gotten to yet!

To Do Lists

This is a big part of how I use my bullet journal, second only to using it as a diary. Flip through the pages and you’ll see lots of lists. Books I want to read, recipes I want to try, my 30 before 30 list… you name it, it’s there. I just find my bullet journal to be such a great place to jot down all of these ideas that run around my head. Being able to tick things off makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something, which is equally exciting!

Blog Planning + Ideas

Another part of how I use my bullet journal has to do with planning the blog! I write down lots of post ideas, make plans for vlogs I want to film, keep track of my post schedule, and all that jazz! Because I carry my bullet journal around with me everywhere, it’s a pretty handy place to keep all my blogging stuff. I even use a different color pen so I can immediately distinguish!

There you have it! A little look at how I use my bullet journal! There are so many ways you can use one, if you’re thinking about it; you can really tailor it to whatever you need which is great! At the moment, this is the perfect set up for me, but if I decide to use it for other things, it’s so easy to slot them into what’s already there!
