As the year winds down, and we all start making big plans for 2018, I thought I’d get a little introspective and have a look back at my year. It’s certainly been a roller coaster, hasn’t it? As that time winds down, it is kind of nice to take a look back at the year, just as a bit of reflection, so here is a little look at my best moments from 2017!Continue Reading
Christmas is on Monday and I am SO EXCITED! I love this time of year, and I have to admit that the build up has been a lot of fun! We had a quiet weekend away in the Cotswolds (and even got snow!) and our Christmas and Boxing Day will be low key affairs too. That being said, I’ve been filling my days with lots of fun and festive bits. Christmas in London is a really magical time; there’s just so much to do! Remember, I did a little post about getting into the holiday spirit? Well, here’s a look at one of the rather festive days I spent in London!
As I’m sure, you know, I LOVE to bake. I think anyone who’s ever read my blog could tell that! I especially like baking around Christmas. One year, I made candy cane brownies for all my friends at school, and decorated Christmas cookies are a personal favorite. This year though, I decided I’d try out a new recipe that I’d spotted in one of my books about hygge! Madeleines are a nice little treat, and they’re super easy to make as well, so why not add a little Christmas cheer! Continue Reading
Mr. Actually and I always had the intention of going away for a little weekend trip for a little while now. Initially, we were planning a trip to Berlin; I’d even booked an Airbnb! Sadly though, I was delayed in booking flights (a combination of delays in my visa, waiting for passports & being skint until payday), and by the time I was able to do it, flights were upwards of £500! We decided instead for low key, and I booked us a weekend in the Cotswolds! It was festive and cozy, and the perfect getaway just before Christmas!
Would you believe that I never had a mince pie until I moved to the UK? Yeah, weird, isn’t it? It’s one of those strange cultural things that I still can’t really wrap my head around (mince pies don’t exist in the States), but one that I still 100% indulge in! Come December 1st, there are suddenly a stack of boxes of mince pies, to be had with our tea, and nibbled on before bed. This year, we decided to have a little bit of fun and put all the mince pies from our local supermarkets up against each other! We gathered our selection, and judged them on 3 categories: Flavor (how nice is that spice?), texture (is the crust flaky enough?) and overall aesthetic (are they cute enough for Instagram?) before giving each a score out of five! Want to know who came tops? Continue Reading
One of the things that I find really exciting now that I’m a proper ‘adult’ (I use the term loosely) is having people over for dinner. There’s something so nice about cooking a meal for friends, and when it’s a special occasion, I find no greater joy than planning the perfect tablescape! Did you see how I set the table for Friendsgiving? Yeah, I’m that girl… This year, P and I are also hosting Christmas Dinner for the first time so I’m already planning our table! If you’re going to plan a nice meal, why not make it even more enjoyable by setting the scene?Continue Reading
