It’s a little bit strange to wish yourself a Happy Birthday, isn’t it? Well, today is my birthday, and I’m turning the big 28. Okay, so it’s not a milestone or anything but my life has changed so much in the last 3 years that it feels like a big deal. Is that totally crazy? I’ve moved to another country, gotten married (twice!), and in general, made so many changes in my life! The best bit? I’m really happy!
This year, I thought it would be nice to embrace my adult-ness, and go for a little ladies afternoon tea! It’s quite possibly the most lady-like thing to do for your birthday, so I thought I’d give it a shot! Afternoon tea is certainly a popular choice in London, so it was difficult to narrow down my options, but in the end, I discovered Number Sixteen, which totally took the cake! Aside from being totally gorgeous and Instagram-worthy at every turn, the tea itself was absolutely perfect!
I was joined by my lovely friends Jessica, and Nicole, and we had such a nice time! Sometimes all you need is to chill out with your girls, drinking tea and just talking about life. That was certainly the order of the day, along with mint tea, delicious scones, tea sandwiches and cupcakes! Number Sixteen is tucked away on a residential street in Chelsea, the perfect hotel, that looks nothing like a hotel at all! Once you walk in, the stunning decor is enough to make you stay, and even though we didn’t get to eat in the garden, I’ve seen enough photos of it to want to go back!
I’m definitely craving the more low-key celebrations, lately. Gone are the days of going clubbing and staying out until 3am. Long gone, indeed! Oh well! I’m not sure I’ll miss them, honestly, if I ever even had those days at all! On to a new year!
