I’m trying to read more. Especially now that the temperature has dropped and the clocks have turned back, there will be more evenings of curling up in my pajamas with a good book. In fact, in my post last week about blogging for a year, I asked people what their favorite way to wind down was. The most common answer involved a good book! I used to spend so much time reading, and I think it’s time to get back to that! Here’s what I’m reading right now:
I follow Estée Lalonde on Instagram as well as read her blog, so her book has been all over my feed for the last month or so! In Bloom, Estée shares bits of her life and her journey of discovery. In her own words, it’s about “discovering who you are and how you interpret that through the lifestyle choices you make.” I think we all feel a little lost at times and picking up a book that encourages you to be exactly who you are is just what the doctor ordered! Plus, it looks absolutely gorgeous and I’m excited to dive in!
My Name is Leon by Kit de Waal
This book comes as a suggestion from my friend Claire, who posted a review a few months ago. Claire reads a ton of books and reviews them on her blog, and I often scroll through for a little inspiration. I spotted this book and thought it would be a fun read on a cold winter’s night! Claire’s review completely sold me! In her memior We’ll Always Have Paris, Emma tells of how she came across a copy of French ELLE in the library of her school in Yorkshire. The pages full of “philosophy, sex and lipstick,” made her realize her one life purpose: to be French.
This book has been on my radar for some time now. I have to admit, despite the old adage of not judging a book by it’s cover, I do find that I am drawn to books with interesting covers. Perhaps it’s because I’ve a very visual person, and if a cover catches my eye, it piques my interest! Anyway, I’d seen this book in Waterstones a few times, and thought it looked interesting, so decided it might be fun to give it a go! It tells the story of Eva and Jim, who meet my happenstance, and then the book follows them through three versions of their relationship. Sounds fascinating!
I’m really excited to dive into these books! It’s kind of my goal this winter to read more, so I’m always on the lookout for new books! Have you read anything lately that you want to share? I’d love to hear your suggestions!
