So, if you’ve been living under a rock, you might not be aware that there’s a certain US beauty brand that is HUGE in the blogging world, and it’s finally available in the UK! Launch Day, October 9th, dawned grey and gloomy, but bloggers all over the country were making a mad dash the Glossier website to put in orders straight away. I didn’t go too crazy (LBH, I only went as crazy as my bank account would allow) and ordered myself 4 products that I had been dying to get my hands on. Here’s what I tried out:
In all the hype about this cleanser, I’ve only had one person tell me they weren’t a fan. Glossier even calls it the ‘one face wash to rule them all.’ I like to keep my skincare routine very simple (if I’m even sticking to one… it comes and goes, if I’m being honest!) so I thought, being on the simpler side, this was right up my alley. I like the texture of the cleanser; it’s thick without being heavy, and I like that you can apply to wet or dry skin. There was some complaint that it’s not great with removing make-up, and I have to say, I’d agree, but I don’t wear too much makeup, and when I do, I take it off first with Micellar Water anyway. I’ve only been using this cleanser for about a week now, but my skin is definitely liking it! It’s gentle enough for me to actually wash my face twice a day. Normally, My skin copes for a few days and then freaks out and dries out. So far that hasn’t happened, so it’s won me over!
Wearing daily SPF I have to admit is not always my priority, but since I got to sample of some Aveda Daily Facial SPF over the summer, I’ve been much more inclined to make an effort with it. Then, I spotted Glossier’s Invisible Shield, and knew I had to give it a go! When my Glossier goodies arrived, I was first struck by the size of the bottle. I’m going to be honest, for £26, I was expecting a bigger bottle. Don’t get me wrong, I do really like the product; it doesn’t leave my skin oily like most products with SPF, it doesn’t weigh down my skin, and goes on very smooth and light! Best of all, a little bit goes a long way! My only real issue with it is the price… I’m not entirely sold that it’s worth the £26 I spent on it, which definitely makes me hesitate at buying it again. Maybe we’ll see how I feel when I get to the dregs of the bottle and decision time is upon me!
I’ll say right off the bat that my skin has been LOVING this moisturizer. After washing my face with the jelly cleanser, I’ve been using the moisturizer (only in the morning) and it leaves my skin feeling very dewy and soft. I like that it isn’t very oily (my skin doesn’t need any more oil!) and it really soaks into my skin, instead of just sitting on top of it like some products I’ve used. It definitely minimizes my pores, and again, a little bit goes a long way. I’ve been using about a pea sized amount and that is plenty! In fact, with this moisturizer, I’ve been neglecting my makeup! I sometimes feel the need to add a little tint because some moisturizers, especially ones with primer make me look a little bit ashy, but that isn’t the case with this one at all. I’m going barefaced and totally loving it!
The first time I used Boy Brow, I will admit, I wasn’t a fan. I couldn’t really see much of a difference with my brows. Still, I persevered, and gave it another go, this time, taking my time I quickly figured out that it works a bit better if I layer it on slowly, and build it up so my eyebrows look a little fuller. That being said, i think this works better for a minimal make-up look. If I was doing proper, full make-up, I might prefer to use something that provides a bit more definition. I’ll definitely keep using the Boy Brow though for regular days!
Still not sure what to try? I read loads of blog posts and reviews on the brand! Liv shared some great insights when she visited the Glossier Showroom in NYC and Anna laid out all her favorite products from the brand in a great post (and video)! I enjoyed reading Michelle‘s take on a few of the products she’d tried when Glossier had an UK Launch event, and Jen also offered some nice thoughts as she tested out some of the products. Overall the vibes were good! I’m all about the vibes, especially when it involves me forking over my hard earned cash!
