It’s that time of year, when Instagram starts to look overwhelmingly lilac. You guessed it! Wisteria Hysteria is back and it’s about to be in full swing! I’m going to be honest, I’ve always been a fan of wisteria, and since moving to London, I’ve become downright obsessed! It’s just so pretty! Once spring starts rolling in, everyone gets excited about the cherry blossoms, but for me it’s a countdown to the wisteria. Could you imagine living in a house in London all covered in wisteria? It’s the dream. Your house would also smell totally amazing wouldn’t it? Lucky for me, and for you, there are some truly great spots where you can spot the blooming wisteria in all it’s lilac glory! London has lots of hidden corners full of it, and I’m sharing some of my faves with you! They’re just starting to bloom so you’ve within the next few weeks, we’ll be in wisteria heaven!

St. Leonard’s Terrace

I’m sure you’ve spotted this beauty on the ‘gram before, not just for the gorgeous wisteria, but also for the cute blue car that usually sits out front! This was one of the spots I went to with Kristabel and Lauren last year! Honestly, I’ll probably go year after year, because it’s just such a great spot! The houses here also serve up a bit of history alongside their wisteria… The house with the blue plaque? That’s where Bram Stoker lived! I think that’s probably one of my favorite things about London (aside from the beautiful blooms of course); there’s so much history in every direction you look! I spot blue plaques all the time, and even though I don’t recognize the names all the time, it’s still pretty cool to see!

Closest Underground Station: Sloane Square

Elm Place

This is one of my favorite spots to find wisteria. I’ve even shot an outfit here before! Honestly, the street is really pretty and worth a wander. This house looks amazing with all the vines, even when the wisteria isn’t blooming! The house next door with the shutters is really cute as well! I’m also a fan of the cute green lamp posts along the street! Really pulls  it all together, doesn’t it? If you walk to the end of the road, you’ll also see some lovely wisteria along Selwood Place! It’s a win-win really!

Closest Underground Station: South Kensington

Gordon Place

I discovered this sweet spot while wandering through Kensington. I was going to check out the houses on Horton Street (they’re so stripey and adorable) and it was so nice out, I decided to keep on wandering. It looks a bit like a dead end, but the wisteria continues along a closed in row of houses. It’s really pretty, and certainly worth a few minutes of staring! Then, head over to Holland Park! It’s the perfect way to spend a day in the sunshine! Surprise, there’s wisteria in the park too! You’ll find it in the garden by the Orangery!

Bedford Gardens

If you haven’t ever spotted this gorgeous pink door, I’d be very impressed! I see it at least 50 times on Instagram every spring. Who can blame ’em? With such a gorgeous climbing display of wisteria, and a cute door, this wisteria spot certainly comes out tops. Walk a little further down the road and you’ll spot a pretty group of houses side by side that also feature some pretty wisteria. You get bonus points if you spot any cool vintage cars. I always spot at least two or three when I’m in this area!

Abingdon Road

I discovered the wonderful wisteria last year while I was just wandering around. That’s my favorite way to see London! Put on your walking shoes, charge up your phone and go exploring! Make sure you walk down the entire length of Abingdon Road! There’s a pretty display on the right as you walk down from Kensington High Street (around a pretty blue door)! Keep heading down past the two small roundabouts, and at the other end of Abingdon Road, you’ll find two even better displays, one right next door to each other!

Kynance Mews/Launceston Place/Victoria Road

I’m including these all together, because these roads all connect. A swift walk up one and down the other, and you’re set!  I’ve mentioned Kynance Mews before… the ivy in the fall is absolutely stunning! In the spring, the wisteria starts to take over one of the houses that looks like something out of a Dickens novel. It’s blooming lovely! Once you’ve admired it, take a left up Launceston Place and you’ll spot wisteria along a few fences, which looks beautiful as it mingles with other blooms. Walk all the way down to the end of the road, and take a left and a quick right onto Canning Passage. Around the corner you’ll find a more modern house with wisteria growing all up the front. It’s very pretty! Then you can turn around and head back down Victoria Road and you’ll probably spot some more!

This is by no means an extensive list, because there’s just so much beautiful wisteria to see! In fact, as I was walking around taking these pictures, I could see it blooming everywhere!  Our spring was a little delayed this year, but in the next two or three weeks, you’ll definitely be spotting lots of wisteria! London is chock-a-block full of some amazing displays! These are just a few of my favorites, but I guarantee you I’ll be wandering London this spring looking for all the blooms! They love the sun, so hopefully we’ll get some more beautiful days that will really encourage these lilac blooms to burst forward! If you’re interested in a more extensive list of wisteria spots, I’ve included the vlog I filmed last year for your viewing pleasure! In the description box, you’ll find a Google Map of all the wisteria I’ve spotted! I’m also using the hashtag #wisteriainlondon on Instagram, so you can follow that as well!

Do you have any favorite spots to see the wisteria?

Pin for later!
