I’ve officially decided that I’m going to project summer. You know that old saying, ‘dress for the job you want?’ Well I’m dressing for the weather I want! Apparently that put something into the universe because the day we shot this outfit, the sun came out and it was warm. I hesitate to get too excited about it, because that’s not the first time this has happened and then the weather went all grey again! So instead, I’m pulling on my sailor jeans and having a grand old time injecting a little warmth and sunshine into my life!
I thrive in the sunshine. Maybe it’s because I was born in the middle of summer in New York City. So basically, I lived in a sauna most of my life. London I think also comes alive in the warmer months. You can sense something in the air in April and then suddenly the days are long and warm and everyone is happy! I know the sunshine has a direct effect on my mood. My wardrobe becomes decidedly more patterned and light. Like these sailor jeans! Nothing says summer to me quite like a blue and white stripe. Seersucker? Gingham? Breton? All my favorite patterns feature the two colors! I’m also completely obsessed with lemon printed things at the moment. Did you see the fab dress that Kristabel was rocking in Jamaica? Well, I loved it, but definitely wanted to find an alternative to black. When I spotted this fun shirt at Cath Kidston I knew that was it!
I mentioned in a post recently about how jeans have been my sartorial bread and butter for years, but I’ve started branching out into new styles? Well, exhibit A! I think these sailor jeans definitely are a new and different style, but I’m 100% in love! The other thing I’m loving? This totally sweet watch! I was very kindly gifted this pink beauty from Ice-Watch, and I can say it’s definitely getting its fair share of wear! I love the pink color and it’s super sleek! It’s the perfect size too! I stopped wearing watches until a few months ago ( I was mourning the loss of my bright orange Baby G) and this one was a very welcome addition to my collection. I’m a fan of pastel colors and Ice-Watch has loads to choose from. I even spotted a few styles that reminded me of my beloved Baby G!
