It’s been a little while since I did a little neighborhood guide and I gotta tell ya, I’m feeling very loyal to my local hood right now! Crystal Palace is well worth a trip south of the river, so if you’re feeling a little curious about what to do, I’ve got you covered!  There are some really wonderful spots on the triangle, and you could spend several hours, or even a whole day just hanging out! Maybe I’m a little biased, but I do love showing people around Crystal Palace. There are so many great areas in London, and Crystal Palace is just one of many!

Crystal Palace Market

If you’re looking for a good meal, look no further than Crystal Palace Market. It’s a real treat no matter when you stop by, the decor is cute, and the truffle fries alone are well worth the trip! Mr. Actually and I have had dinner here in the past (in fact, we had dinner with our families here after we got married the first time!), and their brunch is pretty tasty as well! I’ve seen lots of different things on the menu, and I’ve never had a bad meal, either. They even have a little wine/cheese bar attached next door if a meal is not what you’re after!

If you’re not too bothered by Crystal Palace Market, there are lots of other great food options! Tamnag Thai is great and their portions are big. Four Hundred Rabbits has really nice pizza and it’s oh so instagrammable! Blackbird Bakery is all about the dreamy cakes and fresh baked bread! They’ve got a few different locations too! Plus, there are 4 pubs on the triangle alone, and all of them do food, which is perfect for a nice sunny day!

Crystal Palace Park

Perhaps the real shining star of the area, Crystal Palace Park is a real wonder. It was initially built to house the Crystal Palace for the great exhibition way back in the 1850s, and even though the actual palace burned down, the foundations still remain. Staircases topped with sphinxes, statues overlooking the view, and lots of green open space. The real corker though is the full size dinosaurs around the lake. They were considered state of the art at the time, though science has come quite a ways since then. They’re still worth a look though! Even on a warm sunny day, the park never feels too busy. Pack a picnic and sit out by the bandstand for hours!

Maison Minimale

One of the cool things about Crystal Palace is all the cute independent shops! Homewares especially are really represented! The gem for me is Maison Minimale on Church Road. Gorgeous homewares, books, stationary, and lots of lovely little bits. I stop in pretty much every time I walk by. I’ve got a few candles from them as well! I mean, it’s dreamy and there are so many things I want to get my hands on. Adorable cushions in particular are my Kryptonite just now. The second we get our new couch, you better believe that I’ll be piling it high with cute cushions!

A few other great shops you can find in Crystal Palace? Elkins, also on Church Road, has a similar vibe to Maison Minimale. Lots of gorgeous housewares! Mrs. Robinsons is another great one, as well as Lowie, a clothing store with some fabulous pieces! Some of them might require saving up a tad, but they’re totally irresistible!

As far as cool neighborhoods go, Crystal Palace is definitely worth a visit! It may be south of the river, but it’s totally full of character! I might be a little biased, but it’s a place I never tire of exploring! I have lots of areas on the list of things I want to explore, and I’m slowly getting through them (Chiswick anyone?) but I thought it would be fun to share a little closer to home this time!

Pin it for later!
