Ghenet Actually || Summery Mint Lemonade

When it comes to summer refreshment, nothing says chilling out like a glass of ice cold lemonade! Perhaps it’s still the American in me, but I love making lemonade! It’s so easy to do (and yes, before anyone asks, I did make lemonade and sell it on corner as a kid. It’s part of every kid’s childhood really!). I whip up a batch of mint lemonade, let it chill overnight, and then it’s ready to go! Spending the day in the park? It’s the perfect tag-a-long! There’s something so refreshing about fresh squeezed lemonade on a hot summer’s day. The best part? It takes no time at all to make a refreshing batch of mint lemonade!ย

There’s something so refreshing about a nice cool glass of mint lemonade, especially in the sunshine! Just the other week, Mr. Actually and I spent several hours lounging in the park; you’d better believe we brought along a pitcher of mint lemonade that I’d made a few days before! The best part? It takes no time at all to make a refreshing batch of lemonade!

250ml water

1 cup sugar

8-10 ripe lemons, plus 1 for garnish

750ml cool water (+ 500ml extra)

1 bunch fresh mint

1 pitcher or carafe

1. In a saucepan, warm the 250ml of water on medium heat. When the water is warm (but not boiling) add your sugar. Keep on the heat and stir occasionally, until all the sugar has dissolved and the liquid is completely clear. Take off the heat and let cool completely.

2. Cut one lemon into slices and add to your pitcher or carafe with a handful of mint leaves.

3. In a bowl, squeeze the juice from your lemons, starting with 8. Pour the lemon juice into the pitcher with the lemon slices and mint leaves.

4. Start by adding your 750ml of water. Stir the water in with the lemon juice, slice, and mint leaves, and add a 1/4 cup of your simple syrup. Give it a stir and taste.

5. From here, it’s entirely up to you. I normally use the full amount of simple syrup, and the full 1250ml of water. Sometimes I add more lemon juice if I want it more tart. Just keep tasting it and adding the simple syrup, lemon juice, or water to your taste!

6. Once you’ve got the combination you’d like, put your pitcher in the fridge and allow to chill for at least 8 hours.

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! Mint lemonade is the perfect way to stay hydrated in the heat! You can tailor it to your likes as well, which is ideal really… Not a fan of mint? Take it out! Fancy adding some fruit? Raspberry and peach lemonade are pretty tasty! Just slice up some fruit and pop it in! Enjoy!

Pin it for later!

Haha, I’ve been doing it since I was a kid! It’s kind of a summer staple for me! Lemonade and Iced Tea! How very American! LOL
