Is anyone else finding this weather to be just a little more than confusing? I t feels very autumnal and cool, but it’s still vaguely warm out. Or it’s sunny but cold, so I keep underestimating how warm it’s going to be! This transitional weather is always a little tricky to dress for! We’re just on the cusp of big fluffy jumper weather (I’m still finding them a little too warm), but it’s too cold now for summer dresses! Transitional weather, transitional wardrobe?
This is also the time of year when I suddenly realize that I’ve only got one pair of trousers in my wardrobe that are winter weather appropriate. I’m such a skirt girl in the summer (though I don’t miss the terror that is chub rub. This Lush cream has been my absolute savior this summer!) but I basically live in jeans and jumpers the second that daylight begins to dwindle…
Cue a mass order from Asos of my favorite Farleigh Jeans… I’ve got a few thinner jumpers to ease me through that transitional phase before it’s fully woolly jumper time! Cable-knits, thick roll necks, you name it! I love this jumper from Sugarhill Brighton, which was gifted to me last year, but still gets plenty of wear. I also have a pretty grey jumper that’s similarly perfect for this weather, because it’s thin and layers up really well! That’s the important thing at the moment, mixing and matching layers!
I will admit that while I usually dress with a lot of color in the summer (case in point), with cold weather my wardrobe defaults to black, and I’d really like to change that! I’ve gotten much better about having color in my wardrobe, especially during this transitional period! Some things I wore over the summer can certainly be paired with a well jumper and a cardigan. Cardigans are something I definitely need more of this time round!
Eventually I’ll hide my ankles and legs away in thick wool socks, but for now, I’m going to let them get a bit more light where they can! I’m also stocking up on nude colored tights (like these ones I love from Ownbrown) so I can still wear a few cute skirts and things without turning into an icicle!
