3 Delicious Ways to Have Porridge For Breakfast

I love porridge. When I was a kid, my parents would make it for breakfast before school or really important days where I needed to be at my best. Especially during the winter, it’s a rather heartwarming start to the day isn’t it? I have also found that mixing up how I eat my porridge means that I don’t get tired of it! There are three main ways that I eat my porridge, and most importantly, all of them are quick and easy to make!

Apples & Cinnamon Sugar

A winter-time favorite to be sure. It’s like apple pie for breakfast! I usually cut up the apple into small pieces and mix them into the porridge before adding the boiling water. That way, the apples soften up nicely! Chop the apples up and pop them in, add the boiling water, and then let it sit for about 5 minutes. Sprinkle on some cinnamon and sugar and stir! Then curl up with your duvet and savor the warmth before you have to go out in the cold.


Mixed Berries & Honey

This is great in the summer, when berries are really in season! You can get berries in the winter, and they’ll work just fine, but I personally think they taste better when they’re in season. I like to put a few heaping tablespoons of porridge in a bowl with boiling water and let it sit for a few minutes. Give it a stir, sprinkle your berries on top, and them drizzle with some honey. Yum!


Crushed Almonds & Brown Sugar

Another great way to mix it up, and it’s perfect no matter the time of year! The almonds make it nice and nutty, and the brown sugar makes it sweet and smooth! In a similar way to the apples, chop up  a handful of almonds and mix them into the porridge. Add the brown sugar, pour in the boiling water, and give it a stir before letting it sit for about 5 minutes.
