5 London Things I’m Looking Forward to This Autumn

September 28, 2016

I am a big fan of all the seasons, except winter, and that’s really only because I hate being cold. I’d even go so far as to call it a deep dark loathing of being cold. Lucky for me, winter is still a little ways away, and I can just focus on the lovely weather we’re having now! There are a few things that become really very pleasant in London in the autumn, and I’m looking forward to them!

Strolls through the Park
There are so many parks in London and watching all the trees change color is delightful! I do find something really pleasant about strolling through a park in the crisp autumn weather with a flask of tea and just taking it all in. Green Park, St. James’s Park, Hampstead Heath, Crystal Palace Park, Holland Park… there are so many places to go!
Museums, Museums, Museums
With the colder weather comes a few more rainy days, and for me, that means spending time in museums. London has some really amazing museums and galleries, and I am determined to get to quite a few of them this Autumn. Plus, the tourist season has lulled, so it tends to be a bit quieter, doesn’t it?
Hot Chocolate
Just like I’ve been on a mission to find the best chai latte in London and the best veggie burger in London, Autumn means finding the best hot chocolate! Whether I’m out exploring, or curled up on the couch watching a film, a nice hot chocolate is the cherry on top, and it’s definitely my mission to find a really great cup!
Apple Picking
I used to do this with my godparents every single year when I was young! We’d spend the morning on a farm, and then spend the evening baking apple pies and drinking apple cider. Have you ever had apple cider? It’s delicious, especially when it’s warmed up! Anyway, I’ve been wanting to go apple picking for a little while now, but I actually found some farms where you can pick your own fruit. Technically they’re not in London, but there are some pretty nearby! It’s the perfect Autumn activity, and one where you can enjoy the fruits of your labor (pun 100% intended… eek!)!
Guy Fawkes
Slightly different than the others, but this will be the first time that I actually have the 5th of November off! To be fair, there have only be 2 other times I’ve been in the UK to celebrate it, but both of those times I missed out on the bonfires and the fireworks because I was working. Sad! This year, however, I’m ready to get my Guy on, admire a big old bonfire and then watch some fireworks.
I’m also a big fan of cozy jumpers and scarves, so I’m gonna stock up on those in the meantime! Come winter, I’m not gonna want to leave the house at all, so I’d better do these things while it’s still bearable!
Is there anything you’re really looking forward to doing this Autumn?
