Happy Sunday! A day for chilling out, not getting up to much of anything, and chilling with many cups of tea. That’s what I like my Sundays to look like! With my work schedule being what it is, Sundays are the only day I will reliably have to myself, to relax and do some things that make me happy! And on that note, here are a few things that are making me happy right now!
1. It’s my Birthday Month!
It’s officially my birthday month! In fact, it’s my birthday in less than 2 weeks! I will admit that when I was younger, I didn’t really enjoy my birthdays because all my friends were always at summer camp, so I didn’t see the point of celebrating it. Now as I get older, I kind of see it as a nice day to treat myself. This year though, I’m thinking something low key. A nice picnic in the park? A good meal? I was even thinking of treating myself to a massage! Nothing too fancy or expensive, mainly because I’m skint, and 29 isn’t really the birthday to celebrate. I’ve got to save it for the big 3-0 next year! I’m still working on my 30 before 30 list too, and I’ve still got a year to go!
2. My new blog baby
As you can see, I’ve done a major revamp on the blog and I couldn’t be happier! It’s been a long time in the works, so it’s really great to have it all done now. I bought a template Etsy shop Sky and Stars to accompany my move to WordPress/self hosted, and Angelina did such an amazing job customizing it for me! I don’t know much coding, and the times I tried to do things myself, I inevitably managed to totally botch it! I decided to put my new brush lettering skills to use as well (look Teri, I’ve been practicing!) and create a new header, which I’m pretty excited about too! It feels much more me, I think!
3. Quality Time
I’ve had a slight change in my work situation, which means I’m working longer days but end up with more days off! I’m definitely trying to be more productive and make the most of my days off! I’m consciously making plans with people I love spending time with, or consciously having ‘work’ days where I can focus on blog content, or chilled out days where I just relax and take care of my mental health. My time is now filled with good company, like the day I went for a picnic in Hampstead Heath with Carrie, and then headed off to a Disney film screening at the Prince Charles Cinema with my friend Hayley! It’s all about just nurturing friendships, and taking care of myself!
4. Winter is Here
We know this one, don’t we? Game of Thrones is officially back and I’m obsessed. Normally, when tv shows and films are really hyped up, my instinct is to run away (La La Land, anyone? Still not seen it…) and I did resist the call of Westeros for a little while. Then Hurricane Sandy happened and I was trapped inside for three days straight, so I decided to give it a go. I binge-watched the first two seasons and was completely hooked! If you are starting from the beginning, I wouldn’t recommend following in my footsteps as I couldn’t remember much of anything from the first two seasons until P and I rewatched it all from the beginning last year. We only allowed ourselves 2 episodes at a time, which meant everything stuck a bit better. It’s a very story heavy TV show, and there’s so much going on!
5. Christmas in August
I’ve booked a trip to Berlin for P and I to visit the Christmas markets! Even though it’s still months away, I’m still really excited for it! I booked it a little while ago as a surprise for P and have finally spilled the beans! I’ve got us a cute little guide book, but if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to send them our way! The days will be short and cold, but we’ll be drinking all the mulled wine and getting in the Christmas spirit and I just can’t wait! It’s the first of many places in Europe that I’ve been keen to visit, so to tick this one off the list is pretty exciting!
