One of the things I’ve been wanting to really work on recently is my skincare routine, and taking better care of my skin. With that in mind, I picked up this new book called the Skincare Bible and gave it a read. It’s a really interesting and informative book, and certainly worth picking up if you want to rethink your skin care, or have some nagging thoughts about it. The book also made me want to take a look at my skincare routine and the types of products I should be using. I’m taking a little look at what products are in my arsenal and what I’m looking to add to my skincare routine!
Cleanser, Moisturizer & SPF: Glossier
I 100% jumped on the bandwagon when Glossier finally came to the UK. I tested these bad boys out and have been using them ever since. My skin is oily, but also a tad on the sensitive side. If cleansers are too harsh, using them every day drys out my skin! Terrible I know! The Milk Jelly Cleanser is a nice consistency and isn’t too harsh on my skin even when I use it twice a day! The moisturizer is really nice on my skin as well. I like that my skin feels fresh and soft after using the moisturizer. I also don’t feel like I need to pack on the make-up, but if I do, it’s a nice primer as well. The SPF is an essential. At first I felt like it was a little small amount of product for the price, but a little bit goes a long way. I’ve been using it every day, and will certainly be keeping it in my arsenal!
Micellar Cleansing Water: Garnier
This, I really only use when I need to take my makeup off at the end of the day. I go makeup-free pretty regularly, so it’s not always a necessity for me. That being said, I do love this stuff. It removes my make-up without drying out my skin, which is a definite bonus!
Pixi’s Glow Tonic is a new purchase for me to be honest. I’d heard so many great things about it I thought I’d give it a go! I’ve only been using it once a day, before bed. Any more than that I feel like my skin might freak out a bit. I like it alot! It’s not too harsh on my skin and it smells nice. It’s a nice touch after I’ve washed my face. I’ve noticed my skin looking a little brighter and clearer, but I imagine prolonged use will only improve that! There’s no alcohol in it either, so my skin doesn’t feel tight and uncomfortable after I’ve used it.
Serum: Fresh & Caudalie
I’ll be the first to admit, I wasn’t using a serum prior to reading The Skincare Bible. It mentioned the use of serum for oily skin early on in the book, so I thought it might be something worth adding to my skincare routine. I actually happened to have some untouched samples lying around, so I thought I’d give them a go. I’ve been using each one a few days at a time in the evenings to get used to the idea. I think I’m liking the Caudalie one more but I’m also keen to look for serums that might have different focuses. Maybe one for antioxidants or something? Both of these are hydrating, which is great, but I think my skin might need something a little different just now!
That is pretty much were I’m at right now with my skincare routine. I’m very much a ‘take it one product at a time’ kind of gal. My skin totally freaks out otherwise! Plus, I struggle to tell the difference with my skin if I change everything all at once! I’m definitely looking at other options on the serum and toner front. Those seem to be the to areas my skincare routine has been lacking!
