Living far from home (in another country no less), Living far from home (in another country no less), I get cravings for things that remind me of my childhood. Like Peach cobbler… It makes me think of the end of summer break when the evenings start drawing in and autumn is about to knock on the door. This dessert is made for sharing, so here’s my go to recipe. No gate keeping here! Ingredients: 8-10 large peaches 50 grams brown sugar 1 tsp cornflour 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1/4 tsp salt 1 lemon, juiced 250 grams plain flour 100 grams sugar 1/2 tsp salt 1 1/2 tsp baking powder 115 grams unsalted butter, cold 120 ml milk 2 tbsp sugar 1/4 tsp cinnamon 1. Preheat oven to 190°C/175°C fan. 2. Cut peaches in half, remove stones, then slice and add to baking dish. 3. Mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, salt and lemon juice and mix in with peach slices until everything is coated evenly. 4. In a small bowl, mix 2 tbsp sugar and 1/4 tsp cinnamon. Set aside. 5. In a bowl, whisk together the remaining dry ingredients. Cube the butter and add. Using your fingers, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles crumbs. 6. Add the milk and stir until everything comes together in a wet dough. 7. Pull a chunk of dough and flatten a with your fingers, then lay on top of the peaches. Repeat until the dough is used up. Don’t worry about covering the whole top, there will be gaps! 8. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over the top. 9. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the liquid is bubbling and the topping is golden brown. 10. Serve with a scoop of ice cream (salted caramel is my fave!) Enjoy! #bakingrecipe

The last few months have been full of some lovely moments and it was so nice to just be in the moment without having to think about anything else. I did miss it though. The community. The connection. If there’s one thing I’ve learned since buying our If there’s one thing I’ve learned since buying our house, it’s that I feel the same way about my home as I do about my wardrobe. I don’t want to fill it quickly. 
I want to fill it thoughtfully. Our living room has been evolving for over 2 years and it’s still not quite finished. We have no skirting board and I want to build shelves for our records, among numerous other little things. The long timeline wasn’t planned, but life just happens that way. We’ve had to save up. 
We’ve changed our minds. 
We’ve painstakingly searched for the right pieces instead of the easy ones. Or we just plain old didn’t have the energy. That’s part of the story too. I sometimes feel like I have to rush things just for the sake of having them be finished. After all, social media loves a before and after, but the reality is more about the in-between bits. Let’s normalize sharing those in-between bits. Let’s normalize homes that evolve slowly. What do you think? My travel ethos has always been that memories make My travel ethos has always been that memories make the best souvenirs. This trip to Pisa was to celebrate ten years together, and somewhere between the morning coffee and Italian pastries, long walks, divine dinners and getting lost down little side streets, I thought about how some of the richest parts of life don’t take up any space at home. I’ll remember sitting on the train to Florence, eating gelato in the sunshine, and climbing the tower in Lucca (despite my fear of heights). I’ll definitely remember what we ate while we were there. The only physical souvenir I brought home was a copy of the menu from one of the restaurants where we had our favorite dinner. That’ll be going up on the wall in our dining room. I challenged myself to not buy clothes for six mon I challenged myself to not buy clothes for six months. What surprised me most wasn’t the money I saved. It was realising how many good pieces I already owned but was totally overlooking. I’ve worn pieces I forgot I even had. I’ve mixed up my style and tried wearing things differently. I’ve repaired a few favourites instead of just replacing them. Getting dressed is so much more enjoyable now. And fun! I’m not saying I’ll never buy clothes again. In fact, the headband I’m wearing is a very recent purchase from a lovely small business. But this experiment has made me realise that a wardrobe doesnt need constant additions to feel fresh. I’ve realised overbuying was never really about no I’ve realised overbuying was never really about not having enough to wear (I have plenty!). It’s more about mindset, habits, and the impulse to chase that ‘new’ feeling. Lately I’ve been buying way less, only shopping secondhand, and avoiding fast fashion altogether. Honestly, I have a much healthier relationship with my wardrobe, not to mention even more outfit options when I actually wear what I already own! It’s definitely been a journey though some days are easier than others.
