A Stargazer’s Paradise in Herefordshire
I think we’ve found our staycation sweet spot. After staying in a digital detox cabin earlier this year, we’ve realized the joy of going off grid for a few days. I’ve been obsessed with Canopy and Stars for a while now, and after we went glamping last summer I wanted to recreate the experience! So I booked us a stay at a wonderful little wagon in Herefordshire, near the border of Wales. In typical fashion, the weather didn’t entirely cooperate but we still had a lovely time!

An Escape with a View…
One of the things I noticed first about The Stargazer’s Wagon was the views. The wagon is nestled in a field on the top of a small hill. Naturally, the views were stunning! We spent our first evening relaxing in the wood burning hot tub with a bottle of wine, watching the sun set. The wagon itself featured a kitchen, a little sitting room and a comfy double bed in the back. Apparently it was from an old traveling circus in Germany and it’s been restored and converted into a lovely little stay. Other perks of our accommodation? The cider! We were able to try lots of local cider from Dunkertons Cider, which was a lovely way to unwind too.

Walking in the Wilderness…
While we were away we also went for a couple of walks through the countryside. The best one we did was the Shobdon Circular Walk which had some pretty views and we enjoyed it. Truthfully though, the footpaths weren’t very well maintained. Lots of the paths had been overgrown or planted over which made navigating difficult at times. The second walk we tried was a real doozy with half the paths on our map basically not existing anymore. There was also an incident with some sheep basically coming for us in a way that was straight up alarming. Still, it was nice to get out into nature as they say. The countryside in Herefordshire is really stunning and I’m glad we got to experience that!

A Little Stargazing…
You know how I mentioned that the weather didn’t exactly behave? I’m not lying; we had a bit of sun but the evenings were fairly cloudy. We did get one really great night of star gazing though; I would have been pretty disappointed had we not seen any stars! Our second night we stayed up until nearly 1am with a cozy campfire to keep us warm and nothing but stars above us. It was so clear we could even see satellites moving across the sky and possibly even the International Space Station! I love stars; there’s something so incredible and slightly scaring and overwhelming about them but they are beautiful! Seeing as our little wagon was literally called The Stargazer’s Wagon, it made sense to at least try to see a few! The remaining evenings were a bit too overcast to see anything but we still got our fill of stars!

It’s always good to get away from time to time and just disconnect for a bit. This year has been a tough one, so we really wanted to prioritise our wellbeing for a few days. Put our phones away, put our out of office on, and just… be. The Stargazers Wagon was definitely just what the doctor ordered. I’d certainly recommend a stay; fingers crossed you get a bit more stargazing done than we did! I bet it would be great in all seasons too, so bookmark this one!
