Andiamo A Roma with The Hoxton
{ad/ press trip with The Hoxton Hotel}
Remember the trip to Rome I took recently? Well I thought I’d take a moment to tell you about the hotel I stayed at while we were there. I’ve stayed at The Hoxton before, and I’ve been a big fan of their hotels for a while now. Naturally, when they mentioned they’d opened a new location in Rome and were planning a trip, I jumped at the chance! I’d been to Rome before, but the experience was vastly different… for starters, the bathrooms were so grim I didn’t actually shower for 3 days. Yuck. Thankfully, this time around was a huge (and rather stylish) upgrade!

An Italian Twist
Located in the Roman neighborhood of Parioli, the Hoxton definitely has a trendy vibe without being too touristy. In fact, it felt surprisingly local! The hotel itself was originally built in the 70s (I believe it was a Beverly Hills Hotel?) and the renovation kept a lot of the original detail. They incorporated the Hoxton’s classic mid-century style with some local Italian influence. In fact, a lot of the artwork is from local artists, and the Hoxton also works with and welcomes the local community.
From the moment we arrived, we felt very welcome (no surprise there really) and a little Italian sunshine was just what the doctor ordered. There’s a coffee shop in the lobby with delightful pastries called Cugino; the nutella pastry was divine! There’s also a restaurant named Beverly (an homage to the origina hotel!). One evening, we had cocktails outside in the patio area which was also really lovely. Even though I stayed as part of a press trip, I would spend my own money to stay at the Hoxton. They’re really nice hotels and the new Rome location was no different!

Villa Borghese
We also did a little exploring of the area where the hotel is situated. There’s nothing worse than booking a hotel only to find it’s a million miles from all the thing you want to see. The good news is that you get the best of both with the Hoxton. We were able to walk to the Spanish Steps in the center of Rome in about 30 minutes and that was at a leisurely windy pace. Equally, there’s plenty to see around the hotel, like Villa Borghese, a stunning park that is well worth a visit! The very afternoon we arrived, our feet carried us to the park! I even went back again to do some exploring!
Other things nearby? Several museums and food options too! The MACRO Contemporary Art Museum is a 15 minute walk away, and MAXXI National Museum of 21st Century Art is very easy to get to via public transportation or by taxi. Mostly though, it’s a lovely part of town to wander through and something a little bit different than just touristy Rome.

Gosh what a fun trip! Take me back pronto! We had such a fun time and staying at the hotel was a real treat! It sure beat the last place I stayed in Rome; I’m cringing just thinking about it! Still, The Hoxton is definitely somewhere I’d stay again and I’m even looking at some of their other locations! Amsterdam or Barcelona, anyone?
